Skittles, anyone?

Wonder how many of you luv this packet of monster :P
Well, when I first have it was costing about RM1/pkt... then increased by RM1.10 till RM1.20...
Now... RM 1.60 for this lil packet.

I used to purchased 10pkts of this and stuck all in a bottle...
But since now so pricey, 1pkt will do.... and I've not often to eat this anymore...
My sweet tooth turned to be Granny's tooth.

The Dining Place, Setia City Mall @ Shah Alam

Last weekend....
Well, break time and again not too sure what to eat...
Eventually we just want to grab something light to bite.

We thought of just maybe buy bread to eat, ended up... we sat down and dine in instead.

Inside the same restaurant they do sell bread and pastries as well...
Just that we are more keen with their set meal....

My Skinny friend ordered the SET A - XO Cheong Fun + Drink....
I was telling her, if it's those normal cheong fun as a NORMAL PRICE rate, it's pretty expensive.
She said shouldn't be.... well, I guessed correct.

Topped with chopped spring onions and served with crispy prawn chilli.
I wouldn't say that this meal not good though, well for RM5.90 it's worth (included drink ok..)
The texture for the roll is smooth, not dry up as well...
But of course you need to eat with the crispy prawn chilli or else it will tasteless.

It comes with the choice of drink either Iced Lemon Tea or Sirap Cincau....
We settled it with Ice Lemon Tea...
Not too sour, not too much taste of tea...
But it blends well, confused?
Blends well all I could say.

PRICE: RM6.50 (included tax)

Price Range: RM 5 - RM 20
Good For: Something different (I guess)
Bad For: Service (the order was taken 10mins ago, but the waiter came back to confirm after 15mins.. weird)

不見不散 (Pat Kin Pat San) Cafe, Setia City Mall @ Shah Alam

Break time again!
Well, seriously there's not much cafe/restaurants to patron in the mall itself...
Due to the PRICING.

Be real, normally if we want to dine in restaurant/cafe will be the time we go for shopping or chillexing....
And sometimes, it does make us feel bored as we not sure what to eat.....
So, last week, my Skinny and me went over this Pat Kin Pat San cafe....(that was the first time I went)
While browsing through the menu only I realized is something like the Kim Gary and Wong Kok concept...
Just that this concept... more lively as in ORANGE colour compares to the other 2 darker side.

I ordered their egg tarts for a try (looks good at the pastries display)....

Was not too bad, it's not "thick" as in one bite will finish the whole piece...
The crumb was soft too, not too dried up either.

Due to I was having hangover a night before...
I wanted something spicy and sour and was noisy about having tomyum soup.....
Surprisingly they do serve here....

Seafood tomyum...
Filled up with fish fillet and few pieces of squid, I forgot if there's prawns...
The taste of the spoon was just nice... not too sour not too spicy...
Quite appetizing too.

I ordered Yong Chow Fried Rice as the main...
I only like Yong Chow Fried Rice with Char Siu...
There were few times I ordered (somewhere out there)....
They served with lap cheong (Chinese Sausage) instead.... I totally not into lap cheong... and that's the reason why I do not order any Yong Chow Fried Rice in KL....
Till I found out that, they do served with Char Siu in most of the stalls (well, I guess I went to the wrong place then....)
Right, back to this fried rice.....
Well, it's just normal fried rice to me... with dried up char siu.... edible....

For  my Skinny companion... not too sure the name of her fried rice...
She told me she ordered Luncheon Meat Fried Rice...
Out of curiosity, I took a bite at the meat...
Well.... it's sort of like those stewed pork instead.
Not too keen with it.

Hmmm..... PAT KIN PAT SAN... YAT KIN JAU SAN.

PRICE: RM35

Price Range: RM4 - RM15
Good For: Quick meal...
Bad For: ....nothing special... seriously.

Restoran Chuan Kie, Gohtong Jaya @ Genting

After the fast(est) tour to Genting Highlands....
...due to we were starving actually....
Eventually I wanted to go to the Kampung Bukit Tinggi... but due to was about 6plus...
I not sure whether they still open for business.
We decided to head down back to Gohtong Jaya for dinner instead.

I read in other reviews that this Restaurant Chuan Kie had quite a good deal...
And since it received not bad review, we went for a try.

According to other foodies... they review that the Crispy Pork Belly is a must try....
We ordered.
Then came the server.... mistakenly placed a plate of crispy pork belly which is size (BIG)...
We got surprised as it's a lot...
Till he "changed" his hand... handed the actual plate to us....
Ok, that was more surprising... portion seriously quarter of the LARGE size.

Well, as a pork larver (ME).....
I don't really enjoy this dish much....
Yes, it's crispy and sticky.
I believe they cooked with marmite gravy, its's sweet just that I do not keen with the texture...
I prefer something softy (FAT) and meaty.
However, this dish I think most properly goes well with BEER. REALLY.

They serve fishes.... pretty expensive fish too.
Soon Hock cost RM15/100gm, Patin Hitam at RM13/100gm...
We settled with Talapia cost RM3/100gm!
Teochew style steamed Talapia fish....
The Talapia does have lots of meat though (well fed I guess)...
Steamed well with the pickled vegetables, black fungus, carrot, tofu...
However the fish got the smell of "muddy"  which we need to eat if chilli padi to kill off the taste.
The portion of the fish was pretty "generous"... too much to handle.

While we were freezing up in Genting Highlands...
Dumpty did mentioned she wanted soup... (she was wearing EXTREME short pants)
So since they do serve "sai yeung choy" - Watercress we ordered that.
And came........
This was the first time I had this type of cooking for "sai yeung choy soup.
Normally, it served either boiled for hours or herbal....
This type more to like instant style....
Lucky enough, it taste good.
Well... weird, yet good.... just that bit salty (according to Dumpty)
Maybe I should try to make this type of soup... soon.

Averagely, this is not a bad restaurant....
Good to try out as well.

I was not sure how much the price till I got to SMS Dumpty how much she paid.
I'm amazed.

PRICE: RM50 (ok ma...)

Price Range: RM5 - RM (depends the weight of the fishes)
Good For: Cheap food at the middle of the highland.....
Bad For: Talapia smells muddy.....

Strawberry Farm @ Gohtong Jaya, Genting

After the visit to the Orchid Farm....
We were rather deciding whether to roll down the hill or up to Genting Higlands....
As we decided to go up the hill again....
I saw the signboard to the Strawberry Farm opposite from the roundabout.
Is free entrance, and... why not right?

They have few areas like the strawberry farm (you can hand pick the strawberries.... RM6/100gm)...

Area 1 : STRAWBERRY FARM:
Well, as we saw from a far... not much pretty though....

As Dumpty was saying... they looks like having cancer (tumours).....
I couldn't agree more though.

The other spot on... ROSES.... and other flowers which I not too sure with the names...

While walking toward the walkway.... it leads us to a stairway to the lavender garden....
Area 2 : Lavender Garden

There were 2 types of Lavender that we saw....
Well, for someone who back from NZ....
She said that the one most blooming is not the actual lavender.....
Malaysian's Lavender?

Instead, she said this one (picture below) is the actual lavender...

No matter what... it's a great view for the garden....

It's such a beautiful view isn't it?

The surrounding of the lavender garden... there were also other plants around.....
One thing that amazed me was this....

It can feed the whole state! :P

At the side of the fence... there are plants of Morning Glory....
Beautifully bloomed!

Area 3 : Vegetable Farm / Cactus

After mesmerizing the flowers... we headed down to other area....... the GREENS.

The vegetable farm, consist of the cactus, cherry tomato farm as well....
Didn't manage to see any red cherry tomato (only found the greens one)
I not too sure do they sell the vegetables, but if they do.... it will be very fresh ones : )

Well, we were there till around 5 something, and headed up to Genting Highlands...
Freakin' chill evening.

That's our short trip....
Sometimes.... it's not necessary to give ourself a break via somewhere far.....
We do have pleasant places to go....
It's our choice.

Good Trip!

Part 3: THE FOOD!

Orchid Farm @ Gohtong Jaya, Genting Highlands

Alright, my blog won't be only post about food...
There will be also places that I visited....
So, recently on last Friday, I brought my foodie companion up to Gohtong Jaya for short day trip.

Why Gohtong Jaya?
Well, I got to know Dumpty luv Orchid... and I was googling the other day where can I find orchid farm in Malaysia (particularly in KL/Selangor)....
Well,I have the choices in Sg.Besi (I think), Ulu Yam and Gohtong Jaya (both actually the same owner).

I decided to head over to Gohtong Jaya instead... (come on.. see flowers, of course need to be somewhere chill and cosy at the same time isn't it?)

I can't say it's easy to find (if you coming from KL) as you need to make a U-Turn after the Police Check-Point....
It's opposite the Memorial Park instead.....
I was lucky as I made the U-turn.. or else I guess I've already went all the up to Genting.

Took some pictures... have a look : )

SNAPSHOTS:

Of course going over there, it has the purpose.... we decided to get one home with us....
After few rounds of "hunting"....

Cost RM 45 (Orchid), RM10 for the pot, RM 15 for fertilizer....

It's a great short trip and fun too  : )

PART 2: Strawberry Farm.
